About the Artist

I live close to some of my favorite scenes – old docks, waterfront buildings and marinas, and everyday neighborhoods near the shoreline in Alameda. I prefer an impressionistic style. I compose a scene with solid design principles, then apply vivid pigments that meld with a freedom and spontaneity – that’s the beauty of watercolor.

I’ve drawn and painted since childhood, when my father inspired a lifelong interest in architecture. He designed and built our family home, and occasionally painted landscapes of old houses and industrial scenes. From him I learned to see my environment as interlocking shapes of light, shadow, color, and texture.
